Carole Hallman
A Massage Therapist since 1979, I have always loved working for myself and the free time it allows me to pursue my varied interests.
In 2007 I began my journey into Surface Design, starting with painting silk scarves. I moved on to painting wool blankets and other items that had been cast aside, giving them a new life.
Transforming a piece of clothing or material with color and patterns using dye and stitching, binding or twisting is called Shibori. When I learned what could be done with this and other dyeing techniques, I was hooked.
My practices include harvesting materials from my garden and my travels and seeking new ways to bring personality, warmth, and vibrancy to my pieces.
I love every part of the process and sharing it with others in hands-on small workshops.
